The Philippine Embassy in Doha pioneered the use of automated election system (AES) to hasten the counting of ballots and transmit the election results real time. There were more than 750 Filipinos who cast their votes on the first day and according to an update from their official Facebook page, a total of 5402 votes has been cast as of April 17 or 12% of the registered OFW voters in Qatar.

Every Pinoy citizen is encouraged by Ambassador Wilfredo Santos to exercise their right to vote and to make it part of their civic duties as a Filipino citizen overseas. With more than 70% increase in the voters registration in Qatar, he is confident that this will be a big turnout compared to last 2013 Election which was 20% as there are 40,000 registered voters in Qatar.
The 2016 Philippine National Elections will have a 30-day voting period and will run from April 9, 2016 to May 9, 2016. During the voting period, the Philippine Embassy will be open from Sundays to Thursdays on regular office hours starting 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For Fridays, Saturdays and Holidays it will begin on 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (no break). On the last day of the voting period (May 9, 2016), voters will have 7:00 AM to 12:00 NN.
