You might notice that coming to a clean home will make you feel relaxed. If you are tidy by nature, you will have no problem keeping your home in order. But as most expatriates in Qatar, you might be living in accommodation with other people. If they are not on the same page as you, then you might find it a challenge to put the place in order.

One of the easiest ways to keep your home clean is to have a cleaning schedule. This does not mean that you need to be super organized and have everything planned out perfectly. However, even if you are not the tidiest person in the world, there are some things that you can do to make sure that your home is always clean.
Even if you have a stressful day at work, you can forget about these when you come home. And this is only possible if your home is neat and organized.
It doesn’t matter if you have other people with you. Just focus on your own space and keep it in order at all times. Let’s discuss some of these tips, as discussed in Real Living:
1. KonMari Method
A few years back, KonMari was the buzzword for most designers. In this method, you should be able to identify which of your items give you joy. Be firm in your decision as you assess its value. If it doesn’t, then you have to throw or donate it to others.
When you follow this technique, you also have to keep the place tidy every day. You can choose one room each day to fix.
Most importantly, you should provide plenty of storage areas in your home. If this is not feasible, just make sure that you have an appropriate storage area for all the stuff you own in the apartment.
2. Swedish Death Cleaning
It may sound morbid, but this technique requires you to keep your stuff in order while you are alive so that your surviving family does not have to do it for you.
This technique also requires you to choose which of your stuff to keep, and which to give away. Those things that you no longer need can be given away to family and friends.
3. Minimalist Game
For this technique, you will sort your items based on the day of the month. For example, you will sort one item on the first day of the month. On the second day, you work on two items until you get to the last day of the month.
What will you do with the items you no longer use? You can either throw these away or give them to somebody else. Whatever you decide, these items should not be in your possession when midnight comes.
4. Five-Basket/Four-Box Technique
For this technique, you can use either the basket or box. Label these containers with “put away,” “give,” “throw,” and “undecided.” You can also label your container as “put away,” “recycle,” “fix,” “donate,” and “trash.”
As you sort your stuff, put them in the corresponding container. Just as you would with KonMari method, you need to be decisive with where you put your stuff. If you keep putting your items in the “undecided” container, the items may just overflow. You might find yourself back in square one if you have not significantly reduced your mess.
Summary
These are just some of the tried-and-tested methods to keep the clutter under control. We understand that it is easy to accumulate stuff due to the numerous sale in the malls. But when you know how to manage your stuff, and your money, your home will be clean at all times.
