Philippine President Duterte to Visit Qatar on 14-16 April 2017

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Doha announced the official visit of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the State of Qatar. The president is expected to arrive on Friday, April 14, for his three-day visit in the country.

Aside from closing deals and agreements with the high officials of Qatar, the president is also expected to meet with the overseas Filipino communities who have shown strong support in his presidency in the last election. Many are already expecting the much awaited meeting with the most-talked-about leader of the Philippines.

President Duterte to Strengthen Ties with Qatar; Meet with Filipino Communities

In line with this, those who are interested to join the assembly were asked to register prior to the event for the safety of the president and to avoid overcrowding on the venue. The meeting will be held at the Lusail Sports Arena (Lusail Multipurpose Hall) on Saturday between 6:30 to 8:00 pm as announced by Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Alan L Timbayan.

This state visit to Qatar will end his three-nation trip to the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). The president has previously been in Saudi Arabia where he met with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud last Tuesday, and in Bahrain where he met with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the Sakhir Palace on Thursday.

In between all these signing of agreements and meeting with the high officials of the said nations, President Duterte always have it in his itinerary to meet with the overseas Filipino communities to inquire about their concerns and situations working in foreign countries.
