Suggested Activities to Do in Al Wakrah

From a fishing village to a modern village, Al Wakrah is one destination that you should visit at least once. Here is a guide to help you get around this large city.

Go shopping at Al Wakrah Souq

Souqs are abundant in Qatar, where you can buy local products for your use or as a present back home. In Al Wakrah, you can find a lovely souq near the beachfront. It features traditional architecture, allowing visitors to imagine the souq as it looked like in the olden days. In this souq, you can buy not only trinkets but also get some snacks and coffee. After you have had your fill, you can walk along the promenade and see the beach.

Most travel guides advise that you visit the souq in the afternoon so that the temperature is colder.

Visit the Beach

The Al Wakrah Municipality Family Beach is another perfect destination if you want to have a fun day with your family. While the beach is shallow, you can splash around in the water but are advised not to swim. However, you can use the barbecue facilities or let the children play in the playground. Even older children can enjoy the day at the beach by playing volleyball or football.

Go Fishing

If you want to try your hand with fishing, you can go to Port Al-Wakrah. At the marina, not only can you see fishing boats, but you can also join other visitors as they throw their hooks in the water in the hopes of getting their catch for the day. But if you are not able to catch anything, you can still enjoy the view by the sea.

Take a stroll in the garden

Take a break from the water and enjoy some time on dry land. Enjoy the flowers and other plants at the Al Wakrah Public Garden. This public garden is a refreshing break from the bustling city.
