Red Line Metrolink Now Part of Doha Metro Network

On February 16, 2020, commuters can take the Red Line Metro Link to be connected to the Doha Metro.  This is Route M133, which begins at Al Wakra and serves the Wukair North Area.

The metrolink follows a regular schedule. Route M133 connects Ezdan Mall, Al Wakra Hospital and Ezdan 18, 21,22, 23 and 24 compounds to Al Wakra station of Doha Metro Red Line.

Doha Metro Now Accessible Through Red Line Metrolink

The riding public from Al Wakra will now find it easier to take the Doha Metro through the Red Line Metrolink. The route is labelled M133 and will shuttle passengers coming from Ezdan Mall, Al Wakra Hospital, and Ezdan 18, 21, 22, 23 and 24. This route is only for Wukair North, as there is no route yet for Al Wakra East.

According to a tweet from Doha Metro and Lusail Tram:

“We are pleased to announce a new Red Line metrolink route for Al Wakra (entrance No.2) starting 16th Feb 2020. The M133 will serve Wukair North and connect the following areas: Ezdan Mall, Al Wakra Hospital, and Ezdan 18, 21-24. This route will run every 15 minutes in the peak period and every 20 minutes in the off-peak period.”

In another tweet from Doha Metro and Lusail Tram:

“We are happy to announce that from the 16th February 2020, an extra stop will be added to the Red Line M143 Corniche Metrolink Route which will serve Hamad Medical City.”

The Al Wakra Station is part of the Red Line of Doha Metro. The Red Line, which is also known as the Coast Line, is about 40 kilometers long. The stations along the Red Line are: Al Bidda, Corniche, QIC West Bay, DECC, Al Qassar, Katara, Lusail, Hamad International Airport T1, Qatar University, Ras Bu Fontas, Free Zone, Oqba Ibn Nafie, Al Matar Al Qadeem, Umm Ghawalina, Al Doha Al Jadeda, and Msheireb. Passengers who are bound to other destination not covered by the Red Line will have to get off at Msheireb Station, the Interchange Station, and ride again either at the Green Line or the Gold Line.

The Qatar Rail website explains that the Metrolink is a feeder bus network. The feeder bus connects Qatar Rail to its customers located within 2 to 5 kilometer radius of each Doha Metro stations. Metrolink does not charge any fares to its passengers.

Currently, here are the routes of Metrolink along Doha Metro Red Line: Lusail QNB (M145), Qatar University  (M147), Al Qassar (M103, M135, M141, M142), DECC (M105), Corniche (M143), Msheireb (M138), Al Doha Al Jadeda (M112, M113, M114, M115), Umm Ghuwalina  (M116, M117, M118, M139), Al Matar Al Qadeem (M120, M121, M122), Oqba Ibn Nafie (M123, M124, M125), Free Zone (M140), Ras Bu Fontas (M126), and Al Wakra (M127, M128, M130, M131, M132, M134).

Operating hours of the feeder bus are as follows:

  • Saturday to Wednesday – 06:00 to 23:00
  • Thursday – 06:00 to 23:59
  • Friday – 14:00 to 23:59
