Several airlines operate this route, including Qatar Airways, VietJet Air, Nepal Airlines, IndiGo Airlines, and others. However, as mentioned in the earlier vlog, it is also possible to return to the Philippines and then catch a flight to Seoul.
Popular Destinations in South Korea
With so many places to see and things to do in South Korea, your vacation might not be enough to accomplish everything on your list. Here are some of the popular destinations to help fill up your itinerary:
Nami Island
Tourists flock to this island because it was the shooting location for the beloved TV drama, Winter Sonata. This small island is a perfect vacation spot, throughout the seasons. If you’re a fan of the Korean show, you can find life-size replicas of the main characters in the park.
To reach Nami Island from Seoul, you can take the train to Gapyeong Station. From there, proceed to Gapyeong Wharf to access Nami Island. Apart from taking the ferry, you can also use the Zip-wire, but please note that this is a one-way trip only.
Gyeongbokgung Palace
This palace is the first and largest of the 5 Grand Palaces during the Joseon Dynasty. The place is also ideal to visit any time of the year. When you visit, you can see the Changing of the Royal Guard Ceremony and you can also enjoy a guided tour.
Located in Seoul, Gyeongbokgung Palace is easily accessible if you are in the city. You can walk from City Hall or take a taxi to reach the palace. Alternatively, you can take the train and use either the Gyeongbokgung or Gwanghwamun station.
N Seoul Tower
While you are still in Seoul, you can visit another popular destination in the city. At this tower, you can find the spot where the lover’s padlocks are located. To reach the observatory, you can take a cable car.
Outside the tower, you can also take the tour bus to take you to select destinations all over the city.
Bukchon Hanok Village
This is a perfect destination for those who want to know more about traditional Korean culture. The hanoks (traditional houses) scattered throughout the village have stood since the Joseon dynasty. You can rent themed hanboks and recreate scenes from your favorite Korean TV dramas for a memorable photo shoot.
To reach the village from Seoul, you can take the train. Hop on the Seoul Subway Line 3 and disembark at Anguk Station. Take Exit 3 and turn right. Simply continue walking for 200 meters until you spot the directional signs guiding you to the Bukchon Village Walking Tour.
Naejangsan National Park
If you plan to visit in October or November, don’t forget to include this national park in your itinerary. It’s the perfect spot to admire the beautiful autumn foliage in the country. The park offers various attractions, such as waterfalls, temples, and cable car rides.
The most convenient way to reach the park is by train. From Yongsan Station, take the KTX train and get off at Jeong-eup Station. Then, you can hop on a bus to Naejangsan National Park. However, this option can be confusing and expensive for first-time travelers, as it involves transferring from the train to the bus.
Alternatively, if you have your own vehicle, driving to the park is a great option. Keep in mind that the park can get crowded during peak season, and arriving late might make it challenging to access the mountain. Additionally, you should allocate more travel time if you choose this option.
For all these suggested destinations, you can also join a local tour. Be sure to compare prices to get your money’s worth. You might also want to check whatever fees they cover so you will have enough funds with you on your trip.
