More than 10,000 overseas Filipino workers and their families were covered by over Php 304 million worth of assistance and services from the Department of Migrant Workers and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
The support was reported under the September 14, 2026 Handog ng Pangulo nationwide activity.
Combined figures showed 10,177 beneficiaries and total expenses of Php 304,103,971.24.
Handog ng Pangulo brought government agencies together in different parts of the Philippines to provide public services ranging from employment and livelihood support to health, education, welfare, and legal assistance.
More Than 5,400 Benefited From DMW Services
DMW reported 5,449 beneficiaries, with assistance reaching approximately Php 214.3 million.
Around Php 181.43 million was provided through the AKSYON Fund for 3,116 beneficiaries.
Livelihood assistance accounted for another Php 32.905 million and reached 2,149 beneficiaries.
Other DMW services included medical support, OFW assistance desks, and livelihood-related programs.
OWWA Support Covered Welfare, Scholarships and Livelihood
OWWA reported another 4,728 beneficiaries, with spending of approximately Php 89.77 million.
Its Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program assisted 2,627 beneficiaries with Php 43.705 million.
The Welfare Assistance Program supported 1,731 beneficiaries, while other assistance covered disability and death benefits, scholarships, livelihood programs, and reintegration support.
OWWA describes its mandate as providing welfare programs and services for member-OFWs and their families.

For Filipinos working in Qatar, many of these programs may be more relevant to family members back home, especially when dealing with livelihood, schooling, emergencies, or a worker’s eventual return to the Philippines.
Eligibility still depends on the specific DMW or OWWA program.
