An accident happened last Thursday night at Abu Hamour in Doha-Qatar where Two Filipino women were hit by a speeding car as reported by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) to The Gulf Times.
Cheryl Mae Ayugat Wawey (30 y.o.) was reported dead on the spot, while Celeste Mamon Centino (28 y.o) was injured and sent to Hamad General Hospital according to reports received from reliable sources, labor attaché David Des Dicang.
The official from POLO stated that the two Filipinas are working for almost two years now in Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre. They were going home from at the medical Centre when they were hit by a fast vehicle around 8pm at Dar Al Salam Mall. The suspect’s nationality is still unidentified.
Cheryl Wawey was from Baguio and was an active member of one of the Filipino organizations. Her body is placed in the hospital morgue.
The Philippine Embassy investigated this case and are now waiting for the results. Families and relatives of these two victims have been contacted of the situation.
According to Dicang, these two nurses have returned from a vacation back in the Philippines basing from POLO records. Heirs of Wawey are entitled to be given livelihood and financial assistance from the government of the Philippines.
Dicang has remindede OFWs in Qatar to be extra careful when in the streets.
