Ask About the Status of Your Application

To apply for a job, you will have a job interview so that you can present your skills. It is also the perfect opportunity to explain to the interviewer why you are perfect for the job.

When you have gone through the process, all you have to do is wait for them to update you. While some applicants wait to hear back from the company, there are those who choose to follow up after a couple of days.

It is acceptable to go through this route. And we are sharing the process on how you can follow up.

Send a thank-you email

Prepare this email to thank the interviewer for their time. The usual practice is to send this kind of email one day after the interview. You could also mention what you learned from the company. And you should also mention that you look forward to hearing from them again. Doing so is your way of showing your interest in the company even after your initial talk with them.

Send a follow-up email

When the job interview ends, the interviewer will mostly give a deadline on when you can expect a reply from them. But when it is past the deadline and there is no word from the company, you can send this email. Experts recommend sending the follow-up email a week after the deadline. When you send this email, you can mention that you are interested in the position and that you look forward to their reply. Most importantly, you can offer to answer any questions they may have.

Send an email to other team members

When you haven’t heard from the interviewer, you can also send an email to the recruiter or even HR personnel. They may be able to update you, especially if they are part of the interview process. You can check your inbox for the email addresses of the other relevant employees.

Call up the hiring manager

Experts are torn between calling up the company or just sending an email. In some cases, calling them might help, especially if you haven’t heard from them after sending the two emails. If they provided any contact details in the email, you could try calling.

While waiting to hear from the recruiter, you could spend some time learning about the company. You can also look at the reviews about them so you can have some idea about the work culture.

Don’t hesitate in following up with the company, especially if you feel that the interview went well. Not only will you show your interest in the job, but you will also improve your communication skills.
