How to Ace the Qatar Airways Cabin Crew Interview
YouTuber DayswithKath shares her experience during her cabin crew interview and provides tips as well.
Dress Code
For cabin crew interviews, airline companies require a dress code, usually business attire.
DayswithKath recommends the following business attire for women:
- Formal top
- Jacket with blazer
- Knee length skirt
- You may wear accessories like necklaces, earrings or bracelets but not the flamboyant ones.
Here’s her recommendation for men’s business attire:
- Suit
- Formal shirt
- Neck tie
- Leather shoes
Tidy Up
Aside from looking sharp and decent with the proper business attire, you should also be well groomed.
DayswithKath says that women should wear proper makeup, while men should look neat; no oily face, no extra facial hair.
For women with long hair, keep them with a pony tail, band, etc.
On Nonverbal signals
DayswithKath says that nonverbal signals are very important during your cabin crew interview.
You need to have:
Good standing posture – be confident by having a level chin, pulled back shoulder, arms to the side or near the stomach one holding the other.
Good sitting posture – Sit upright with squared shoulders, hands on lap, facing forward or slightly facing the side, legs may cross at the angle.
The right facial expressions – practice your smile and the way you talk in front of a mirror, or you can record yourself. Always align your facial expressions with the message you are delivering. Maintain eye contact or look at the panel’s eyebrows.
Good hand gestures – use them when you speak or hold them in place.
The right tone of voice – don’t speak too softly or too loudly, too quickly or too slowly. Find the right balance.
Be Confident
The only real way you can be confident is to trust in yourself. Your confidence will show during the interview; so find what makes you confident.
According to DayswithKath, you can get confidence from:
- Being nicely dressed
- Having nice things
- After a self pep talk
- Receiving praise from others
- Being prepared and well-planned
Be Prepared
Being a cabin crew is more than just having a pretty face and smiling a lot. So don’t be overconfident and dismiss the interview as just an interview.
If you underestimate the interview, you will come unprepared, and you won’t get the job.
To be a cabin crew member you need the following attributes:
- Adept at flight safety measures – this is obtained through rigorous cabin crew training
- Critical thinking skills – to know how to handle any situation on board.
- And more.
It also helps for you to research more about Qatar Airways, to show to the panel that you are really interested in working for the company and that you have done your homework.
Be Honest
DayswithKath’s last tip is honesty. You don’t have to pretend that you know the answer to every question they ask.
If there’s some topic you know nothing about, tell them, but also tell them you’d love to learn more about it.
These practical and useful tips will really help you land that dream job of becoming a cabin crew for Qatar Airways, although these tips also apply for any airlines company, or any job for that matter.
