Plan Accordingly

As OFWs, the day when you can stay in the Philippines for good may seem like a distant dream. After all, there are still bills to pay or you might have other obligations that you need to meet. However, you do know that you will not work abroad forever.

As early as now, you need to plan for when you will have to come home for good. The YouTube channel RaineAbouts gives advice for OFWs who are thinking of staying in the country permanently. Take note of these tips:

Be firm in your decision

Once you have decided that you want to come home permanently, you should not back out of your plan. When you are firm in your decision, no one can sway you out of it. And you will not find any other reason to leave the country again.

Have a fully paid insurance or investment plan

While you are still earning, be sure to pay your insurance in full. It would be better if you got one for yourself and your family members. So when you come home for good, you won’t have to worry about the premium payment.

Have a paid-up real estate property

It would be better if your property was fully paid off before you stayed in your country permanently. As mentioned earlier, you won’t have to worry about paying your obligations. You’ll reduce your expenses since you’ll only have to worry about real estate tax and utility bills.

Savings

You need to have some savings that you can get hold of once you come home for good. The money that you set aside can help you as you adjust to life back home.

Income

As you plan on coming home, you should also begin to plan what you will do once you are in your country. Whether you want to put up a business or find local employment, you should have an idea of how to go about it, even if you are still working abroad. You could find a trusted person to manage the business while you are away, or you can start the business even if you are abroad.

On the other hand, you should already have a local job waiting for you if you decide to go down this route. Otherwise, you might find it challenging if you only start to look for employment once you are home.

Adjust your lifestyle

Always remember that your life abroad is completely different than your life in the Philippines. If you are used to a certain lifestyle while you are still an OFW, you should consider that you will not necessarily continue to experience it when you are back home. Accepting your current situation will prevent you from feeling demotivated.
