Hamad International Airport has declared the transformation of its programme into a smart airport by incorporating the best technologies that gives passengers more control and independence over their journey.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, as well as the Minister of Transport and Communications were present at the HIA for the trial session. Engr. Badr Mohammed al Meer (HIA Chief Operating Officer) exhibited the new technologies at the airport.

The passengers will have a fast and amazing experience through every step of their journey as this new technology will improve the efficiency and lessen the wait time when the self-service is activated.
Meer said that the HIA is continuously focusing on its people, processes, technology and partnerships to provide a world class service and be recognised in the industry. He continued to state that in order to boost their position as one of the best airports in the world, they have deployed the latest passenger processing and security technologies.
HIA supports self-service check-in and also provide Home Printed Bag Tags along with other airports to offer these features first. In the future, self-service check-in where passengers can check-in by themselves are introduced and also provide self-service bag drop system where it allows passengers to print their boarding pass and bag tags to tag their baggage and simply drop them off at the designated areas. These features will be enhanced to offer more options for valued customers like excess baggage payment, the capability to gain entry to lounge services and buy upgrades, in association with the airlines.
