PHILIPPINES: The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is reviewing an incident at the OFW Lounge in NAIA Terminal 3 involving a worker who had just flown in from Dubai. In a statement posted Saturday on its official Facebook page, the agency acknowledged the fatigue and needs of the returning OFW.
OWWA cited CCTV footage, incident reports, and accounts from staff on duty. Based on these, the agency said the traveler entered the lounge and received help with registration and baggage. The worker had no connecting domestic flight and planned to continue home to Romblon by land and sea.
The agency said the lounge is in the departure area and mainly serves OFWs with departing or connecting flights.
Arriving workers who need transportation, food, or temporary lodging can go to the OWWA Airport Arrival Assistance Desk past Customs at Terminals 1 and 3. OWWA said it is still checking CCTV, service records, and statements from personnel and witnesses.
“If there were any shortcomings, we will fix them,” the agency said, adding that it will release verified findings once the review is complete.
