Expats in Qatar can now access more than 500 government services through the Metrash app, covering many everyday transactions involving residency, driving, vehicles, fines and travel.
The Ministry of Interior said the app has more than 2.8 million active users and processes over 10 million service transactions every year.
Metrash is available to citizens, residents, visitors and companies, making it one of the main digital tools for dealing with Ministry of Interior services in Qatar.
Residency services can be done through the app
For expats, some of the most useful Metrash features are related to residency.
Residents can access services for the issuance, renewal and cancellation of residence permits.
The app also covers new residency applications, employer approvals, residency fines and application tracking.
Users can also update certain personal information, including passport details and photographs, and request replacements for lost or damaged permits.
This can help residents avoid unnecessary trips to service centers for transactions that are already available online.
Drivers can check fines and renew licences
Metrash also offers a wide range of traffic services.
Drivers can view traffic violations, see available violation details and photographs, make payments and submit objections electronically.
Vehicle owners can renew vehicle registrations, transfer ownership, change insurance information and access traffic permits.
The app also allows users to book driving-test appointments and renew or replace driving licences.
Travel and national address services are also included
Residents travelling outside Qatar can use Metrash to check certain permits and request return permits.
The app also supports pre-registration for vehicle movements through the Abu Samra border crossing, allowing travellers to enter vehicle and trip information before arriving.
Another useful feature is the National Address service.
Individuals and establishments can register or update their national address information, including building, street and area details.
What Qatar residents should know
The latest version of Metrash offers more than 500 services in six languages, according to the Ministry of Interior.
Residents can also save frequently used services under a favourites section and receive notifications about their transactions.
Not every service applies to every user, so residents should check the app for the options available under their own account.
For expats in Qatar, Metrash can reduce the need to visit government offices for many routine residency, driving, vehicle and travel-related transactions.
